Book Review #50 : My Ultimate Companion by Praneeth Chandra

Author : Praneeth Chandra
Genre : Fiction
Ratings : ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

The Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown had a great impact on everyone's lives. It also gave us a chance to spend quality time with our loved ones. But for those who stayed away from their loved ones because of the lockdown it was very heartbreaking and the most difficult time ever.

This is one such sweet love story of two people who are 9000 miles away yet their love bring them together.

Praneeth is an aspiring writer pursuing MBBS. Because of his break up with his girlfriend he became an introvert and keeps himself away from girls.

During lockdown he gets an unexpected message from a girl named Priya, whom he started liking after his breakup. Priya was from his neighbourhood and is pursuing MS in New York.

With a initial hesitation they started chatting online and share each other's past which left deep effect on their lives and then it unfolds two puerile stories which makes the readers emotional for sure.

They both are suffering from terrible heartbreak and want to reboot their lives and relationships.

Will they be able to form a romantic relationship??
Can they forget their first love??

I liked the way the author has narrated the conversation in terms of chat format and letters. It feels like reading real chatting messages.

The narrration is good and language used is simple and lucid. I loved the character of Mr. X in the story, felt very romantic yet real.

I liked the way author has used the story to tell us the dangers depression can have on a person and the ways to handle it.

The cover image is very vibrant and romantic and the book title is very apt for the story. The book is very short of 111 pages which you can finish it in one sitting.

The storyline felt very filmy but i liked how the story progressed. The idea of writing letters to our loved ones is very impressive.

Although I felt the author could've done a little more work at editing and proofreading. And there are some instances where I felt author has overflowed the conversation with emotions which I thought was unnecessary for the story.

If you like to read short stories with a romantic touch then this book is a must read.

Overall it was a good story and I'm waiting for the next book.
