Book Review #24 : Simon's Skin by Nidhi Kamra

Author : Nidhi Kamra
Genre : Children's picture book
Ratings : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

We all at some point want to be like others and try to behave like others. We think they are better than us and so we blindly follow them. But we forget that everybody is unique and different in their own way. And just by behaving like them we don't become like them and it never brings happiness to be someone else.

Simon's skin is beautifully written by Nidhi Kamra and whimsically illustrated by Diane Brown. The protagonist of this book Simon thinks his skin is boring so he tries on different skins like snake, salamander, porcupine, chameleon etc., but each skin came with its own problems and challenges.
At last Simon finds his own skin is better suitable, comfortable, fits him perfectly and finally it's not boring at all.

In this beautifully illustrated book the author Nidhi  Kamra tries to make us understand the importance on being ourself, shows how acting like others brings challenges which will only make you uncomfortable and of course boring.

So don't try to be someone else.. Be yourself. Nobody can be YOU. You are unique in your own special way.

I liked this book so much. It entertains and at the same time gives a lot of moral education to kids. This is a must read for all the children. Not just kids even the elder ones can learn a lot from this.

So I would suggest all parents and teachers to get this book and read it out to your kids.

About Author :
Nidhi Kamra tried on a few skins — reptiles being her favorite. But they were lumpy, bumpy, and made her grumpy. She soon discovered her own skin fit best. Simon’s Skin is her second picture book.
She hopes kids can learn to accept their skin early in life and save themselves the trouble of trying out skins that may just be itchy, twitchy, and not too much fun.

That's all for today guys.
