Book review #8 : Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

🌺Sense and sensibility is a story of two contrasting sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood. Where Elinor is sensible, responsible, logical and Prudent, Marianne is lively, cheerful and emotional. Elinor loves drawing whereas Marianne loves reading and is a lover of poetry. 

🌺The Story starts with death of their father Mr. Henry Dashwood, who on his death bed presses John,his son from earlier marriage, to take care of his second family. Although John assures him he would his selfish wife Fanny convinces him that he need not do any such thing. Disturbed with the growing affection of Elinor and Edward Ferrars, Fanny's brother she forces the Dashwood woman to relocate. 

🌺Fortunately, Mrs Dashwood's cousin Sir John Middleton offers them a cottage in Devonshire where they are welcomed by Mrs Jennings, John's Mother-in-law. While they are settling down, Marianne falls hopelessly in love with a dashing stranger, Mr. John Willoughby. Although Elinor 'sense' forces her to keep her feelings to herself, Marianne convinced by the greater 'sensibility' doesn't keep her thoughts and feelings to herself. Marianne is heartbroken when Willoughby leaves for London and doesn't return and Elinor too has her own romantic breakdown.

🌺The story focuses on how these two sisters prevail both sense and sensibility and handle the emotional breakdown and will they ever meet their soulmates. 

🌺I truly and immensely enjoyed reading this book just as much as her other novel Pride and Prejudice. Her way of describing even the smallest characters is very impressive. I honestly recommend this book for everyone who loves to read classics.
